RR Donnelley - Work with the in-house creative team

After meeting the main office of Donnelley, i then went onto go and meet the in-house creative team. It was made up of 3 people, and i spent my time with the creative director Eleanor Broderick. She is really lovely, she took me through all the aspects of the corporate industry that they are in. They have a lot of jobs coming through because they re now the in-house team so they are taking on a lot of work. It's interesting because they are so organised, the software they use to keep them organised it 'StreamTime' - this enables them to log all the work they are doing, from the project title to all the information that runs along side, so that at any time anyone can access the projects and work on them. This also means that when they finish a project they can then pass on the invoice straight away and all the hours are clocked.

What i found really interesting they still brainstorm in the same way that we do at college, essentially having crits and then going on with ideas.

I also had the opportunity to sit in a meeting with a client who runs the projects for ASDA, and all their branding. It was really interesting, because i think it has taken away the illusion of the people being really intimidating but they are just normal people. I also managed to work on a small brief for them, they wanted a new mail out to entice their new customers. They wanted something that could stand out and actually interact with, so i put some things together that they actually really liked and they said if they use them in the future they would let me know.

Eleanor was really supportive of me, and interested in what i was doing and said that in the future i can always contact her for advice and experience.
